Archie Andrews died today. As a lifelong Archie fan and Archie historian, clearly I have a lot of thoughts about this. Thus:
-Here’s a review of the comic I did for Den of Geek US.
-I wrote an essay for WHYY Newsworks discussing how the death of Archie is the latest bold creative step for Archie Comics.
-I was quoted in this AP article about the death of Archie.

Today Archie Andrews Dies… And Goes To A Second Print — @ArchieComics

Just another opportunity to tell you to buy this issue. I know it sounds crazy, but it’s the best issue I read this week. With it being a big “death of” issue it was bound to sell out, but I think the quality of the tale has a lot to do with it.

Death of Archie 2nd Print

Official Press Release:

Today, history is made as legendary comic book character Archie Andrews dies protecting his friend, Kevin Keller, from an…

Love these! You should do a variant cover or something for us.

So I did some more freakin’ Jughead pictures……. (also a suddenly Wheatley b/c they’re sort of similar in design and it felt familiar drawing Jughead b/c of my own Wheats hhhh)

but holy fuck I want to pull a Take On Me and have this combination of 2D lines and shapes take me on.

Ah! Greaser Jughead!

I would love to see this Jughead on a variant cover, for what it’s worth.

I’d like to see more.

From Archie Comics #36, Jan-Feb 1949, Ray Gill art, another great Undercover Archie catch.

Afterlife with Archie: Rivderdale for the Walking Dead Generation [Review] →

multiversitycomics:

by Matthew Meylikhov

When you talk about Archie Comics, I think a certain image is immediately. The picturesque Riverdale and its happy denizens immediately come to mind. There are wacky hijinks, a dearth of hamburgers, some pretty groovy bands; milkshakes and holding hands and everything…

Sabrina the Teenage Witch is returning to comics this October!  Much like the current Archie series Afterlife with Archie it’s going to be an Archie horror comic! That’s right, no sitcom antics here.  The new series takes place in the 1960s and will feature witches, witchcraft, monsters, demonology, and all kinds of other supernatural shenanigans.

SABRINAVariant Cover of #1 by Francesco Francavilla
As just recently announced, thanks to the tremendous success of AFTERLIFE, ARCHIE Comics is adding a new title to their new Horror line. The new title is SABRINA and features our beloved teen witch. The story is written by my AFTERLIFE partner Roberto AGuirre-Sacasa (so you know it will be good) and drawn by a old friend of mine, Robert Hack, whose work can send thrills up your spine - the man can draw spooky stuff for sure! This story is not tied to Afterlife, but is set in the ’60s and it’s a whole different “universe”. I saw a few pages already and I can promise you it’s gonna be another scary FUN book!
Issue 1 (out in October) will have a variant cover from me and that’s what you see above :)You should def add this to your pull list, and don’t forget to pick-up AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE TP VOl.1 this week out in stores.
Cheers,FF
