Archie Comics pushes the envelope again. I was skeptical about all these changes at first, but I’m really excited for them! As long as they weren’t going to be ridiculous, unreal and over the top I was cool with it. I guess this proves Archie Comics can do no wrong.

Archie #633
Archie Marries Valerie Part 3 – “A Star Is Born!” – As newlyweds Archie and Valerie settle into married life, they quit their respective groups, The Archies and The Pussycats and focus on what matters. Teaching at a music school while starring in their own reality show, the happy couple can finally spend time together off the road. As Archie and Valerie make their own music together what kind of new changes in their former bands can we expect to see? Music aside, the biggest life altering event of the young couple’s lives is on the horizon as Valerie announces she’s pregnant! How will the family dynamic change the musical duo? Whatever the case, the new “star” in their life won’t arrive without the usual lunacy that follows Archie and Valerie around!

I need that sweatshirt.
The Stray Cats don’t have
A boss leather jacket with
Reggie’s name on it
It’s not ironic
The song is about how dumb
Saving power is
The Archies are trying to go in a new direction.

The Archies, by Cliff Chiang
“I was curious what a high school garage band like The Archies might look like today, so here’s my hipster take on the band. Archie is totally straight-edge!”
- Cliff ChiangThis past weekend at New York Comic Con, I couldn’t stop gushing over how much I loved this print to Cliff [which was sold out by the time I tracked him down in Artist Alley]. I love Ronnie’s “princess” necklace and Betty’s entire ensemble, but my most favorite point of fashion here? Archie’s bandage armband.
Also, Jughead’s wristbands are totally the same ones that my boyfriend wears. As well as Scott Pilgrim.
